Jean Marc Nahas
Jean Marc Nahas is a Lebanese-Canadian artist whose work channels the psychological weight of war, memory, and human fragility. Having come of age during the Lebanese Civil War, Nahas moved to Paris at 17, where he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts and Penninghen under influential mentors such as Pierre Alechinsky and Vladimir Veličković. His expressive drawings and paintings—often populated by distorted figures and animalistic motifs—convey a raw, diaristic intensity, blending frenetic black-and-white lines with washes of red or bold blues. His work has been exhibited internationally, from Lebanon and Syria to Brussels, Canada, and Dubai, and is held in prestigious collections including the British Museum and the Sursock Museum.
